Changes That Would Work – End Daylight Saving Time
Changes that would work
Following Neale Donald Walsch‘s lead of there’s no right and wrong, there’s only what works and what doesn’t work, I would like to suggest we reevaluate…
Daylight Saving Time
Get rid of daylight saving time. It was started for many reasons but many people think its usefulness is questionable. It seems to punish those who are early risers and encourage people to sleep late. I find it very unsettling and it’s really hard on children for whom a one hour shift is a big deal.
An unexpected advantage of daylight saving time
One advantage that I do see in keeping daylight saving time is, in it’s discomfort, it can shift someone’s consciousness from "psychological time" to "clock time". This is something Eckhart Tolle suggests as a means to be more in the moment: use the clock, "clock time" to schedule rendezvous but live in the NOW which eliminates "psychological time". I set pop-up or audio reminders for meetings and the like so I can live in the now, NOW, and know my calendar will be my "clock time" for me.

Create Your Own Reality – Presidential Elections
Interesting observation
When reading the little tidbits of information at the bottom of the screen that CNN provided during the Democratic National Convention it became clear what they think is important to Americans. It was filled with information about former presidential nominees; similarities between Obama and other nominees, like who else had held their acceptance speeches outside; facts about Hillary Clinton’s bid for the White House; interesting facts on other political nominees who became president, and much more. I did note, as an interesting observation, most of the information was about minorities: how many minority (women, Latino, etc.) delegates there are; African-Americans and women who had received nominations previously in America’s history; etc. Many minorities were mentioned. In the comments after Obama’s acceptance speech it was mentioned that he was the first African-American who had received the nomination of a major political party.
What we want to know
I would have liked to hear more about his policies, his innovative thinking, how he has inspired millions of Americans to care about their country again and believe that change can happen here in the United States of America. I would like to hear more about how other innovators in history, who also believed that change could happen, made those changes and in true Law of Attraction fashion I would like to hear more about what those kinds of people and those kinds of changes have done to strengthen America and other countries.
Be the change
It appears to me that Barack Obama is being the change he wishes to see in the world. Everyone can do the same. Remember that the next time you feel a negative emotion and put yourself in their shoes to feel compassion. It will do wonders for our world if everyone did that.
Law of Attraction
I would like to remind everyone that what you put your attention on grows so only give your attention to those things that you DO want or the presidential candidate that you want in office. Elections have been won by those who just had the most attention, be it positive or negative. "Pay" your attention carefully.
So, what does Life want?
If we look past the superficial and get into the Essense of Life we have to follow our guidance to what we need to do to manifest the world the way we want it to be. We are creating our world, one thought at a time. We operate as a collective and we must take responsibility for what we have manifested up to this point and decide what we want to manifest next. This can be the dawning of a new day for the world through the example of choosing to look at POSSIBILITIES and deciding which of those possibilities we want to turn into our reality.
Conversations with God
In Neale Donald Walsch‘s book series, Conversations with God, God talks to Neale about the problems in our world and mentions that it requires a change in belief to change those problems. Basically, we can’t solve our problems with the same thinking and beliefs that got us into them. He also points out that a country’s government is a reflection of its spirituality. Well, it sounds like Barack Obama gets it and is already working to change beliefs by giving people something to believe in again. And from one of Neale’s books, let’s not let our world be decided by F.A.T.E.: From All Thoughts Everywhere.
How can we serve Life in our politics?
We create our own reality. It’s time to choose your own thoughts (be responsible for what you think) and choose those thoughts that are what you DO want to manifest.
Follow your guidance
Remember that following your guidance means that after you decide what it is that you want to listen to your heart to lead you to do those things that will create the outcome you want. That’s the boiled down version. If you don’t know what I’m talking about I suggest you read Ask and It Is Given.
Did you catch how Barack finished his speech with the closing line of the letter from the Hopi elders: "We are the ones we’ve been waiting for"?
Choose love. Choose the life you want. Make a decision and follow it through. If it feels good, it has to turn out the way you want it to.
Remember to love, love, love, love, love! Love IS the answer.

End Times?
End Times
Are these the end times people have been talking about and predicting for, oh several thousand, years? How did we get so lucky as to live in these exciting times?
Why
What makes everyone think the end of times is coming, anyway?
- Gas shortages
- 2012 is fast approaching
- Food shortages
- Economy is tanking
- Predictions are lining up
- Global Warming
- etc.
- etc.
Analysis
Let’s do a little mental match-up, shall we?
|
"Evidence" of "end times" |
Cause |
Reasons |
Possible Solutions / Alternatives |
|
Gas Shortages / Rising Gas Prices |
Humans |
Humans control the earth’s resources and encourage dependency upon certain ones. |
Find alternative means of energy and travel. |
|
Approach of 2012 |
Humans again |
Humans predicted that the world would end in 2012. |
Live life to the fullest now and always and you will enjoy every moment along the way. There are never any problems in the now, if something comes up you just deal with it, right, no problem. |
|
Food shortages |
Yup, those Humans |
This is multi-faceted and probably filled with opinions so let’s try a few: "over-population" causing a larger portion of earth to be used for housing instead of farming while conversely also causing a greater need for MORE farming (catch 22); global warming causing problems with growing crops; industrialization of our food sources; deterioration of quality and amount of top-soil for growing |
People can buy organic and bio-dynamic food; start growing their own food organically or bio-dynamically; start or join an organic or bio-dynamic co-op, etc. |
|
Tanking economy |
You guessed it, Humans |
Humans control and manage most money and exchange systems on earth. |
Do more exchanges, don’t buy as much, make what you can, grow your own food, support your local economy, etc. If you’re a manufacturer, make your products with "Planned Longevity" instead of "Planned Obsolescence". |
|
Global Warming |
?
|
Well, we can blame the humans but this probably isn’t the first global warming on the earth. I heard that some scientists think global warming would be happening anyway, humanity is just speeding it up. |
My understanding (since I’m not a scientist in this lifetime) is that an ice age comes after global warming so let’s all buy some skis and wool underwear. |
What’s really going on anyway?
Do YOU think you know what’s going on? I think most people agree SOMETHING different is happening, life just doesn’t look the same and things seem to be speeding up. Things really are coming to a head but why? Some say the planet and humanity are evolving. That’s what I’m choosing to believe. Just find a belief that works for you and go with that. I don’t think it really matters and if we "delete the need to understand" then we can live more in the moment and enjoy life, being here now.
Planned Longevity
That would be the opposite of "Planned Obsolescence". Just imagine if everything was made to last for several generations. We wouldn’t need to keep replacing things, they would just last us our lifetimes and the lifetimes of our children and hopefully their children. This would lead us to not using as many resources, not filling up land-fills, being able to follow our dreams and have more relaxed times since we wouldn’t have to work much.
Those Humans
So, if most of the things that are pointing toward end-times are caused by humans then what are we worried about? Just get those humans to do things differently and most of our problems are solved, right?
General suggestions for living in these times:
- It would certainly help if everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, remembers and feels that we are all ONE and what affects one of us affects all of us.
- Fill our consciousness with evidence of Well-Being and refrain from listening to anything that is fear-based.
- Remember the next seven generations in all our decisions, which is a naturally benefit of living from the heart.
- Learn to live more from your heart (study the Living from the Heart e-paper) so you can feel balance and harmony during times when others are panicking and be able to send love, appreciation, compassion, forgiveness, humility, understanding and valor to those who are experiencing fear.
- Heal your issues now so you are heart centered instead of fear based when the heat gets turned up. (You know what happens to impurities in metal when they boil the metal, right? It bubbles to the top and is released but it has to bubble to the surface to get out.) Do this by telling the Universe that you do want to heal and following your guidance to those things to do to get you the healing you need.
- Remember to love and forgive, love and forgive, all the time, especially yourself and your loved ones.

Did You See that Recession Go By?
What is a recession?
A recession by its very definition ("a decline in economic activity") is that people stop spending money. That’s what causes a recession. People only stop spending money if someone makes them think they need to. We can only go into a recession if enough people stop spending money. Why do people stop spending money? Because someone tells them that we are in a recession. It’s a catch 22. You can only have/start a recession if people believe it. I think recessions are caused by the power of suggestion and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Not one I want in my reality.
Advantages of a recession
Well, people who do have money during a recession can spend it to buy stocks at a "discount". Then when the recession ends they can sell them at a profit. There is a more spiritual upside, if we choose to take it. Perhaps the suggestion of a recession will cause people to wake up to the dysfunction of the human mind, which Eckhart Tolle talks about in The Power of Now and A New Earth and is discussed in the Living from the Heart paper.
Seeing the illusion with the help of recessions
Let’s use a little analogy: Eckhart tells us that relationships aren’t meant to make us happy but we can use them to achieve enlightenment. Going with that premise, let’s use the "scare" of a "recession" to awaken us to the dysfunction of the way our society functions here in 2008 and start to see the light through the cracks of the illusion. Allow your feelings around the recession to bring you into the present moment and look around you. Where are you? Is everything in your immediate vicinity functioning properly? Do you have most everything you need? Are you comfortable and have enough food in your belly? Is your heart beating in your chest, pumping blood and nutrients to your body’s cells? Is air coming in and out of your lungs freely? Are the moon, sun and stars free for you to look at, enjoy and bask in?
You see and experience what you look for
Personally, it doesn’t look like people are hording their money. I see plenty of people at the malls and shopping online (Yes, you can see it online. Just look at Amazon’s ranking of book sales for today). Why are mini-malls going up all over the country if no one is spending money? (Okay, spending no money is a depression and no one is reporting a depression, I’m just exaggerating so you get the point.)
If you want to experience the abundance and prosperity of this planet you have to see it. Look around you. Look at the abundant number of people there are, look at how much money Oprah has, count the seeds on a strawberry, count how many trees there are in a forest or how many needles are on one pine tree then multiply that by how many pine trees there are on the planet. Holy, smokes, count how much information is on the internet. Are you getting the idea? This planet is abundant with everything a human body could need and Abraham (Ask and It Is Given) tells us that the planet will make whatever we need. Victoria Boutenko, in her groundbreaking book, Green for Life, tells us that the soil will create the nutrients a plant needs if they aren’t already present in the soil.
What are we paying for then?
When you buy an apple at the store you aren’t actually paying for an apple. Nature gives us apples for free. Heck, they grow on trees and fall to the ground! We are actually paying for someone to plant the apple seed and grow the tree, water the tree and pick the apples, pack the apples in a crate and deliver them to market, receive them at the store and put them on the display for us to buy. Count how many people who you helped support when you bought that apple, but no matter how you slice it, the apple was free. You were just paying for people to grow it and deliver it to you. Got it?
What to do
I still stand firmly as a believer in following ones’ own individual guidance. (As explained in The Secret and Ask and It Is Given.) Decide what’s important to you and what you want to be, do and have. Your guidance will then guide you in all deliberations to be, do and have what you want.
What I do
When I think about spending money on something, I tune in to my guidance and decide how I feel. I think about both making the purchase and not making the purpose and go with my internal guidance as to what to do. It’s the only way to be sure that what I’m doing will turn out the way I want it to based on what I want to be, do and have. (Neale Donald Walsch explains this in Conversations with God.)
Have an awesome day and follow your guidance.
Prosperity and Abundance RULE! You are meant to be great and have all your needs met. The Universe isn’t cheap, look at all the diamonds it puts in the sky just for you to look at and enjoy.

Changes That Would Work – Determining Couples’ Tax Bracket
Changes that would work
Following Neale Donald Walsch‘s lead of there’s no right and wrong, there’s only what works and what doesn’t work, I would like to suggest we reevaluate…
Taxing couples
As long as we have to pay taxes, and I’m looking forward to the day when we don’t, I think everyone should be taxed on an individual basis instead of a married basis.
How it works now
Basically, the way it works now, we are financially penalized for being married. Double incomes put married folks into a higher tax bracket. Say my husband and I both have incomes that are in the lowest tax bracket, individually. We would both paid 15% taxes if we weren’t married. Add them together as a married couple and now we’re in the 30% tax bracket. That’s 15% of our income that we would have kept if we weren’t married.
How it could work
Determining one’s contribution to the government (tax) based on individual earnings instead of joint earnings might even result in more married people staying married and people who are living as a married couple, without actually being married, getting married. I actually suggested to my husband that we get divorced when I get a job so we aren’t pushed into a higher tax bracket from my income.
Other reasons
Besides, people who are married usually have children and raising them costs quite a bit of money. This is a really good reason for why married folks need to keep more of their income: so they can keep their children clothed, fed and with a nice roof over their heads.
Rant
So, come on American government, prove you believe in the institution of marriage (and fairness) and change the laws to base tax "contribution" on individual income instead of joint income. (Sorry for the rant, you know I don’t usually complain but maybe someone will listen…)
