Peaceful Morning Meditation, or not

The question:
Have you ever noticed that during your evening meditation your mind is easier to quiet? Well I have, and I believe I’ve figured out why that is. At least, I think I’ve figured out the physical reasons but there are probably mental and emotional reasons as well.

The answer:
In Arnold Ehret’s, Mucusless Diet Healing System, he describes how mucus gets into the body and how the mucus gets out when the body detoxifies, as in an illness or an intentional fast. When we eat, nutrients, mucus, toxins, etc. go from our stomachs into our blood stream and then into our cells. While fasting and detoxifying, the process is reversed as the toxins, puss and mucus travel from the cells into the bloodstream before exiting through one of the body’s organs of elimination: respiration, skin, alimentary canal, etc. When the “food” is in the bloodstream you’ll taste it again. He states that that’s part of the reason why people get cravings when fasting or changing their diet: they “taste” it again as it exits the body.

Putting the answer together

What this means in that in the morning, before we have our break-fast (before we break our fast of the night), those foods, toxins, mucus and whatever else, are in our bloodstream from our intentional fast. They flow with the blood through our bodies and also through the brain, activating thoughts.

To prove the point

Just think about previous eating experiences you’ve had. Hmmm…. Here are some memory joggers: Have you ever had a highly processed meal or snack and then found it hard to focus? How about a lunch of pasta and then not being able to focus in that afternoon meeting? Here’s one of mine: I remember playing a memory game with my daughter a few years ago. I had won three games, then we had some organic cookies with organic flour and sugar. She won the following three games. ‘Nuf said.

My potential solutions

I can…
use this challenge as an opportunity to redouble my efforts to stay in the moment. Ooh, that will make the meditation even better since it’s all about being in the moment.
eat a mucusless diet and after I finish detoxifying there shouldn’t be as much in the blood stream. I guess that’s a very long-term solution, though.
drink water to flush it out of the bloodstream. This could work if it’s a short meditation otherwise I’ll have to get up and use the bathroom during my meditation or have the added distraction of a full bladder, huh?
learn some cleansing breath techniques. anyone know of any that purify the blood?
do some purifying yoga asanas. Yoga’s great to do in the morning.
do the energization exercises that are part of the spiritual study program from Self Realization Fellowship. Nah, this requires concentration as well and my mind definitely wanders the same way.

Conclusions

I haven’t found any sure-fire way for helping bring more peace to my first-morning meditation but I think it makes it easier to address now that I have some idea of why it’s occurring. Please let me know if you come up with some ways that work for you.

Goddess Retreat 2009

From Edie Moser’s Description of the event:
An Invitation To Transformation

Goddess Retreat 2009

We are on the brink of extraordinary transformation, we can feel it in the air, our bodies are all a-tingle with the energy of it. Our hearts are racing in anticipation. Our minds are brimming with ideas for evolving ourselves in new and magical ways. As women, we are such creative beings.

From July 18th-25, 2009, women from all over the planet will be gathering for the third year in a row at the beyond beautiful Mt. Eden Retreat Center in Washington, New Jersey for Goddess Retreat 2009. The heart and brain-child of the dynamic facilitator Amy Storm, it is a co-creation of other talented teachers and healers, as together we weave and blend magical modules that will help you stretch and grow in ways that you have desired and perhaps ways you have never considered.

At this retreat, you will also be pampered by the environment itself. “Every time I have driven up with winding road that leads onto the grounds of Mt. Eden which for many years has been the home of the Kindred Spirits Festival, through lush greenery, I have felt an immediate sense of ahhh…as I have entered into a realm of relaxation in which ANYTHING is possible”=-Edie.

Physical nourishment comes in the form of vegetarian, organic, gourmet cuisine that rivals that of other retreats that I have attended throughout the country. Three meals a day, plus yummy snacks and decadent desserts keep us fueled for the inner and outer work that we do for and with ourselves. A key ingredient in the food is the love that is poured into it, as the ‘kitchen Goddesses’ work wonders.

Emotional and spiritual nourishment emerges from our time together. We are all blown away by the ideas that blossom, the insights that arise and the profound healing that takes place for each of us. Tears and laughter abound, bonds form, delight deepens, personal visions come to fruition, relationships are healed.

Those of us who have attended and facilitated have found that our lives have changed dramatically. “It was at this retreat last year that I learned how to simply BE rather than keeping busy doing all the time and I’m convinced that as a result, one of my long held desires came to be…the interview with His Holiness, the Dalai Lama that I conducted within a few weeks after the retreat last summer. I first got word about the impending audience with him while at the retreat.”-Edie

The modules celebrate “All that is Human, all that is Woman and all that is Divine” with not a single aspect ourselves left behind. Together, we sing, dance, drum, play, meditate, practice yoga, create art, learn how our own bodies work, create rituals and experience pleasure.

What would make this experience even more complete for us is if you were there:)

According to Amy:
“Think about this: the entire Goddess Retreat is priced at $1800. For 7 days. That is only $257 per day, including meals and lodging, and all modules! The going rate for any full-day quality class is $200 per day. At the Retreat, the participants get full days of transformational modules, PLUS gourmet vegetarian food, PLUS lodging, PLUS community! I am still rocked by what a bargain it is.”

If offered ala carte, these services would cost $2,800 in total!

Consider what you spend money on without even thinking twice about it. Also, as women, it is our tendency to put ourselves last. This is an investment in yourself with life-long benefits.

WE KNOW you are worth it and what is also cool is that Amy has said many times that the families and partners of those who have attended have expressed gratitude to her for the transformation that has taken place for the women who have returned simply glowing. It is a radiance that doesn’t fade since those of us who participate remain in contact via a yahoo group in which we support each other on a daily basis, even if we live a distance from each other. It is hard for us all to imagine a time when these wonderful women; part of our ‘family of choice’ were not part of our lives. YOU can join the family that we think of as ‘Goddess Sistahs’ too.

If you have any questions, please contact:
Amy Storm 410-290-9090
Edie Weinstein-Moser 215-249-9190

And please pass this on to women you know, post it to any groups you are on, any networking sites. This is how all successful ventures thrive, through personal recommendation.

Love and Gratitude,
Edie

Dawn’s healing
Have you ever wondered how I got to where I am? Like many people that are incarnated at this time, I have walked the path of the wounded healer and become a healer myself. I’ve had many healing experiences over the years and they have built upon each other to bring me to the place where I am today: leading a healthy life in mind. body and spirit. I like to refer to myself as a Constantly Healing Individual (C.H.I.). When things come up that don’t feel good to me (unresolved emotional issues) I use one of the many techniques I’ve learned to clear the energy within me until that issue is completely transformed.

What I’ve done
Since I started my healing and spiritual journey in 1989 I’ve made amazing strides toward that end. I’ve done all of the things listed above. I’m sure there are some that I’ve forgotten and certainly "self-help books" covers a lot of territory but this is a good list to start with.

The resultant healing work
The result of all this work over the years is that I now consider myself called to start working as a healer and offer healing sessions for what people can afford at this time, in this world. I’ve always said that a healer can only take you as far as they have gone themselves, so in your search for a healer to work with, you want to make sure they are still working on themselves and that they have gone further than you.

Your healing
If you are ready to incorporate a healer into your journey then consider whether or not it feels right for us to work together. Sessions can be done in person, over the phone or remotely and incorporate whatever you need, as all healing comes from Source. I get myself in alignment with Source, The Universe (whatever name works for you) and get out of the way so the Universal Energy flows directly to you.

Buy one, get one free
During the month of April, all healing sessions are buy one and get one free. That’s a $50 savings as sessions are $50 for an hour. Yes, I know, that’s well below what others are charging now and it isn’t reflective of the healing work that’s happening for you. It’s simply what I’m being guided to do now, for humanity to propel us all further along the way toward our evolution and enlightenment.

About the healing sessions
Healing sessions are done clothed can be in person in the Phoenixville, PA area, over the phone or remotely at a pre-scheduled time (you just relax and let me do the work from afar).

Healing sessions are $50 for 1 hour and $75 for 2 hours

April special: Purchase and pay for one or more healing sessions during the month of April and get an equal number of healing sessions free

Benefits
The benefits of spending time talking to someone who’s really listening (listening with the whole body, as Eckhert Tolle talks about in The Power of Now) can help shift your energy, release unresolved emotions and move you toward wholeness. Besides that, it feels really good!

How I got this idea
The other day I was thinking how nice it would be just to have someone to talk to for 30 minutes to discuss an issue I was having and then it hit me, the Universe was suggesting that I become the "someone to talk to" and be there for other people! Well, sometimes things just have to "Dawn" on me.

Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah

Illusions, Richard BachWhat this book is about
This is another adventure story that shifts paradigms and opens up the consciousness to a whole new world of possibilities. One reluctant messiah mentors another and the results range from interesting to humorous and outright outrageous all with the result of learning and passing the torch.

My impressions
I really loved this book because it was an adventure story that also shifted my paradigm and opened my mind and consciousness to infinite possibilities. We can master this world and help others but realize that we all have a mission in life. Cool book…

If you were a messiah, would you be reluctant?
