Secrets of the Baby Whisperer
What this book’s about
The author has “whispered” to thousands of babies in her career. Here she shares with us the language of babies along with her methods for getting back to a normal life. The methods are used with love and respect for the child as a valuable human being.
What’s good about this book
This book has some great information on communicating with your baby; from the ways you can tell what your baby needs to how to talk to your baby and treat him or her like a real person. Believe it or not babies can put themselves to sleep without being rocked or anything else. I stayed with my daughter for a few minutes until she was settled down for sleep. She seemed to like this but you need to learn what works best for you and your family through intuition and experimentation of the methods she recommends.
What I didn’t like/would change/wouldn’t recommend about this book
I would recommend NOT using a pacifier. I had a nightmarish experience using a pacifier. I had decided not to use one before I read this book but tried one on the advice of the author. This was a mistake for me.
Especially good sections to read
There are several good breakout boxes on the margins of this book and I would recommend checking them out. The ones I found the most useful were the ones on the stages of sleep and the stages of waking up.

Utilizing this book will help you to realize the true wonder of your child as you are able to recognize their wonderful contribution to your life and our world instead of wondering what you were thinking when you decided to have kids.
